At LiveVox, we are incredibly proud of the diversity of our employees and believe that it’s important to recognize people from different cultures and backgrounds.
May is Asian and South Asian Heritage Month, so we would like to celebrate the heritage of individuals from all countries in the region. While thinking through ways to show our appreciation, we couldn’t help but focus our attention on the current events that are impacting the Asian and South Asian communities, specifically the COVID-19 crisis that is overwhelming the population of India and the rise in hate crimes against Asian Americans.
Regardless of where you are in the world, there are many ways you too can support these communities. While this certainly won’t put an end to these tragic events, we are hoping that it will help spread awareness and drive positive change for the communities being impacted.
1. Donate Funds to Community Organizations
Donating to nonprofit organizations that are supporting either cause is a great way to help the Asian American and Indian communities get back on their feet. Whether it’s a small or large donation, you can make a difference.
Here is a list of organizations that you can donate to:

2. Report Hate Crimes to the Stop AAPI Hate Reporting Center
The Stop AAPI Hate Reporting Center is a group that has been instrumental in tracking anti-Asian attacks across the country. If you witness or experience any violence, harassment, bullying, or hate speech targeted at Asian Americans, report it to the center. These reports will help the organization respond to these incidents and prevent further crimes from happening in the future.
3. Spread Awareness on Social Media
While the attacks on Asian Americans have been on the rise since the beginning of the pandemic, there has been a lack of media coverage on this topic. Additionally, the COVID-19 crisis in India is a recent development that not everyone is aware of. There are plenty of online resources and articles that you can share with friends and family on social media to help educate others about what’s going on and encourage them to do their part.

4. Sign Local Petitions
While it may feel like you can’t make much of an impact, every action counts. You can help speak out against anti-Asian hate crimes and make Asian communities feel heard by signing petitions and encouraging friends and family to do the same.
At LiveVox, we believe that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and that together, we can make a difference. We hope that you found these resources helpful and that they inspired you to take action today.
