During our annual sales kick off event last month, we took time for a corporate social responsibility experience to give back to an organization close to our hearts by preparing 30 high-end remote-control cars and 30 customized capes to support children at The Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio. The event took place at the Omni la Mansion del Rio in San Antonio, Texas on March 1, 2023.
LiveVox attendees worked with Impact 4 Good, a company that runs socially conscious team building programs, to plan an event that would be fun for participants, while getting them in the spirit of giving back. Each team built a remote-control car and designed a superhero cape. The cars did not just represent a brand-new gift for a child, but also a sense of freedom. The superhero capes provided children with a sense of power and strength during a time of their lives when they and their loved ones needed it most!
Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio provides support and temporary living accommodations for families with critically ill and injured children who are receiving essential medical services in San Antonio and Laredo areas. Ronald McDonald House programs offer much more than just a place to stay – they provide meals, family activities, peer support, resources for siblings, respite, laundry facilities and many other services. Most families stay a few days, but many rely on them for months or years while their child receives critical treatment. Most of the families they serve come from South Texas and would not receive the life-saving medical treatment needed due to the high cost of hotels/restaurants. Without RMHC, families opt to sleep in cars, waiting room chairs or on hospital room floors. Many families can’t handle the economic strain on their families or the distance between their homes and appropriate care for their child. These families share a common experience, supporting each other through a stressful and frightening time in their lives.
Travis Pearson, CEO of the Ronald McDonald House of San Antonio & Jennifer Othman, Director of Marketing and Development, attended the event and graciously thanked the group in person at the event for their time and effort in helping to provide these much-appreciated cars to some very deserving children. Following the event, Travis Pearson went on to say, “Gifts like these provide our families with opportunities to laugh, play, and most importantly, be together. Your generosity is crucial in providing a respite for families who must travel to get critical medical services for their children. Families are stronger when they are together.”
